The Abington Hotel 1800’s
If you travelled the hazardous Carlisle to Glasgow road in the 1800’s you would have appreciated the traditional Scottish welcome provided at the Abington Hotel. Originally a coaching inn built at the junction of the Glasgow and the Biggar to Edinburgh roads, the Abington Hotel offered travellers a relaxing stop over during journeys to Glasgow and Edinburgh. Napoleon III certainly appreciated our roaring log fires, great food and comfy beds as he stayed at the Abington Hotel in 1839. You will still find Napoleon’s chair here at the hotel today.
